Lois Jones

Lois Laree Christensen Jones, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at home from sudden heart failure on Mother’s Day, May 8, 2016 in Hooper, Utah.

Lois was born September 22, 1934, the last of 6 girls born to James Peter Christensen and Julia Mae Bown. She grew up in Elsinore, Utah and graduated from South Sevier High School in 1952. She loved education and received an Associates Degree from the College of Southern Utah in 1954 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Home and Family Living from Utah State University in 1956. She served a full-time LDS mission to Denmark. When she returned in 1960, she began teaching Home Economics and was adored by her students. She taught in Portland, Oregon, Layton, Tabiona and Kamas, Utah.

In 1963, Lois married Robert Page and they had a daughter, Lori, 6 years later in California. Soon after they divorced, Lois and Lori moved to Utah.

Lois met Alton Read Jones in 1983. She thought he was the most kind and loving man she had ever known. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 2, 1984.

Lois was always found working and playing hard. She worked at Trace Minerals Research for the past 30 years where she absolutely loved her co-workers. She and Read grew a beautiful garden and she is famous for her canned salsa. The neighbors flocked to her home each Halloween for homemade donuts. Lois always made time for a card game of Shang-hai, but was occasionally known to cheat (especially if it helped her daughter win!)

As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lois served in many callings but has loved teaching the children in the primary organization the most. She made certain the children knew that both she and Heavenly Father loved them.
