Lois Jean Brown Teter, 87 of Clarksburg, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 at her residence with her family by her side. She was born June 4, 1924 in Charleston, WV, daughter of the late Frank A Brown Sr. and Ruth M Martinson Brown. Lois taught for twenty eight years for the Frederick County Board of Education at Thomas Johnson High School. She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl (Cherie) Johanna Teter, Middletown, MD; nieces and nephews, Frank Brown III, Gregory Brown, Lorelei Nielsen and Millicent Hultenius; ten great nieces and nephews and six great great nieces and nephews; friend for twenty three years, Brenda L Warner; life-long friend, Janet Harper Rugo, Framingham, MA; Cheryl’s godmother and godmother’s sister, Juanita and Marge Johnston , Pittsburgh, PA; college friend, Jean Louise Keefer; friends, Amber Price, Ashley Riffle and Art Hamlin a close family friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Brown Jr and wife Millicent “Penny” Brown. Lois had several degrees from, University of Virginia Law School, West Virginia University, Ohio State University and University of Pittsburgh. She was very active with Delta Kappa Gamma, Kappa Delta, Pi Lambda Sigma, PWA, Meals on Wheels, Retired Teachers Association Frederick County Maryland and Harrison County, WV; MD State Teachers Association, Stealey Garden Club; Harrison County Church of Women United, YWCA, YWCA Executive Board where she was secretary for many years, National Education Association , President of Frederick County Maryland Teachers Association, American Association of University Women where she was president of the Frederick, MD branch, Ferko Credit Union where she was chairman and Audit Control. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
