Lois Jane Benjamin, 60, of Three Oaks, Michigan passed away peacefully among family and friends at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan on Sunday morning, July 11, 2010 following a long illness. Born October 4, 1949 in Gary, Indiana, Lois was an educator in the Galien, Michigan public schools for 35 years. She married James Benjamin on August 18, 1973 in Gary, Indiana. In recent years, she offered her services as a foster parent in Berrien County, Michigan. She was an avid reader and loved children. She enjoyed shopping, watching T.V., playing Scrabble, and crocheting.
Lois will be greatly missed, but fondly remembered by her family, friends, students, and co-workers.Survivors include her children, Michael (Kristin) Benjamin of Buchanan, Michigan; Andrew (Jennifer) Benjamin of Glendale Heights, Illinois; and Sarah (Aben Orellana) Benjamin of Grand Rapids, Michigan; her mother, Eileen McQuillin; sister Jeanne (Frank) Fernandez of Hebron, Indiana; brothers, James T. McQuillin of Booneville, Indiana and Robert A. McQuillin of New York; and many nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her father, James McQuillin, and by her brother, Michael John McQuillin.
