Lois J. Chambers, 86, of Peru formerly of Lostant, died at 4:20 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2009, at Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru. Mrs. Chambers was born March 22, 1922, in Leonore to Charles A. and Ella C. (Shawback) Schroeder.
She married Darrell A. Chambers on June 25, 1944, in Richland Evangelical Church. She was a graduate of Lostant High School with the class of 1940. She worked at Swains Restaurant in McNabb for 18 years and was also a cook at Putnam County Grade School. She was an active member of Magnolia United Methodist Church for the past 50 years. She was a past worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star Lostant Chapter 654.
She is survived by her husband Darrell of Peru; 1 daughter, Cynthia (Pat) Sobin of Spring Valley; 3 sons, Dennis Chambers of rural Lostant, Kenneth (Mary) Chambers of Magnolia, and Gary (Linda) Chambers of rural Lostant; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Lila Fetzer of Aurora, and Elaine Barr of Peru.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother; and 3 sisters.
