Lois Gwen Yost Bruns, age 89, went to be with her Heavenly Father March 25, 2019, ending her long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born April 22, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Marie Yost. Her early joys were her family, especially her beloved sister Lucille, and the family dogs. After marrying Francis Bruns in Chicago in 1951, she lived in several cities in Wisconsin and Illinois before settling in Waukegan. With her four daughters no longer needing a stay at home mom, she joined the staff of the Lake County Treasurer’s office. She became a member of the North Shore Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association in 1984 and served as vice president and treasurer, as well as attending national and regional conventions. She was elected Woman of The Year by the ABWA North Shore Chapter in 1991. After retiring, she moved to Tucson, Arizona, and later settled in Brighton, Colorado to be near her oldest daughter, Barbara.

Lois loved to welcome people into her home and took pride in making it a warm, inviting place. She loved to decorate for the holidays and always remembered to send holiday and birthday greetings to her family. She was a wonderful example to her four daughters of living life with joy and a generous spirit.

Lois is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Craig) McIntosh, Marian (Stephen) Your, Janet Thompson, and Carole (Greg) Hubbard, and grandchildren Eric (Liz) Johnson, Kevin McIntosh, Jill Hubbard, and James Hubbard. Her parents, Joseph and Marie Yost, and sister, Lucille Serbicki, predeceased her.

While we are saddened that Lois is no longer here with us on earth, her memory will live on forever in her family and her friends.
