Lois F. McKean, 85, of Jacksonville, died Wed., March 11, 2009, at Passavant Area Hospital.

She was born July 30, 1923, in Morgan County, the daughter of Charles D. and Gladys E. Hurst Morris. She married George Ivan McKean on April 29, 1948 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1955.

She is survived by one daughter and one son, Mary Clinton and John (wife, Judy) McKean, both of Jacksonville; thirteen grandchildren, Patricia “Cookie” Smith, Richard Icidie, Travis Icidie of Ark., Mike Icidie of Ariz., Christopher McKean of Ark., Selena Stadnicki of Ariz., Angela Owings of Ark., Andrew Owings, Rebecca Owings, Leon J.I. Clinton, John S. Clinton, Benjamin Clinton and Michael Anthony McKean; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, George Lee McKean; one granddaughter, Terry Jane Haley; one brother, Carl Robert Morris (surviving wife Verna of Jacksonville); and one sister, Frances M. Reagan.

Lois was an L.P.N. at Memorial Hospital in Springfield for many years. She later worked at nursing homes in Springfield and also had provided private nursing care for individuals. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she had been active with the Bell Choir. She was also a member of Caritas Rebekah Lodge #625.
