Lois Ellen Munson, age 71, went peacefully into the presence of the Lord on July 30, 2016, in Sebring. Florida. Lois was born on December 14, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Leon and Velma (Hibbs) Abramson. On June 11, 1966, Lois was united in marriage to David Van Pelt and widowed at age 31.
She married Roger Munson on February 4, 1989. Lois attended Coldwater High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in piano and voice at Spring Arbor College and a master’s degree in sacred music at Bob Jones University. Lois taught in public schools for 17 years and in private Christian schools for 21 years. She served in many churches as the pianist and also organist. Her beautiful voice blessed many in her solos and in church choirs. Lois loved to spend hours with the family and particularly enjoyed the grandkids both at home and watching their various school activities. Lois was a member at Berean Baptist Church in Portage, MI, and attended Maranatha Baptist Church in Maranatha Village, Sebring, Florida. She took part in many fellowship groups within both churches, greatly enjoying the interaction with others. She had an immense passion for the Bible study groups she attended. Her life exemplified dedication to her family and serving the Lord. Lois is survived by her husband, Roger; a son, Vaughn Van Pelt of Temperence, MI; three daughters, Julie (Devon) Block of Dana Point, CA, Debra (John) Rawsthorne of Concord, NC, Nancy (Jim) Korteway of Paw Paw MI; a foster daughter, Alice (David) Dodge of Chandler, AZ; seven grandchildren, four foster grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Fritts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a husband, a brother, and a sister.
