Lois Ellen Miller, co-founder and CEO of Omni House Inc., died on Monday, February 15, 2021, of complications from cancer. She was 87. Ms. Miller passed away peacefully at her home in Glen Burnie, MD surrounded by family. She leaves behind a legacy of pioneering compassionate care for the mentally ill, running programs which touched and improved the lives of thousands of individuals from across the State of Maryland.

 

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Herbert and Mary Oliver, Ms. Miller moved to Glen Burnie in 1955, with her family when her former late husband relocated with the HarbisonWalker Company. She remained part of the community for the rest of her life, raising her family and running a non-profit health system.  

 

 

 

Throughout her career, Ms. Miller’s efforts received citations and commendations from the Anne Arundel County Executive, Maryland House of Representatives, Maryland State Senate, and the Office of the Governor. She received numerous awards for her service to the community and to the mental health profession.

 

Ms. Miller is survived by an extended family of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was beloved by the entire Omni House staff.
