Lois Eades Griffin, 73, of Jacksonville, died Sunday Jan. 24, 2010, at Barton W. Stone Home in Jacksonville.

She was born Oct. 2, 1936, in Scottville, the daughter of Lee and Audy Ralston Eades. She was raised in Scottville, and also spent two years living with her family in Arizona. She married Eugene “Gene” Griffin on June 7, 1958, in Palmyra, and he preceded her in death on March 24, 2001.

She is survived by her sister, Wanda (Noel) Hicks of rural Scottville, and her brother, Caroll (Irene) Eades of New Berlin. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Dale Eades.

Lois was a high school English teacher and a writer. She published numerous articles and did some proofreading for publishing companies. She also taught 3rd grade in Woodson. Most of her career was spent teaching English in Downs, Fairbury and East Peoria. She was a member of Scottville United Methodist Church, and was also a member of Alpha Delta Kappa.
