Lois Anna Marie Mayall, 74, died at 10:22 a.m. Saturday (July 28, 2007) in Elkhart General Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born Nov. 28, 1932, in Mesick, Mich., to James and Helen (Pechota) Boehm. She married Joseph Mayall on April 25, 1954, in Traverse City, Mich. He died in Elkhart in 1993.
She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Mayall and Barbara (Rick) McGowen, both of Elkhart, as well as a grandson, Adric J. Mayall of Elkhart, whom she raised as a son.
Mrs. Mayall was a secretary for several area businesses in her lifetime and retired from Phillips, Secor and Associates Real Estate in 1980 after 10 years. She also assisted with J and L Custom Aluminum of Elkhart, which was owned by her husband, and managed the firm for a short time after his death.
She was an Avon representative in the Elkhart area for more than 10 years and an avid bingo player and bowler. She belonged to several bowling leagues, including the city’s Ladies’ Church League and the Mixed Master’s League, and was a lifetime member of Elkhart DAV Chapter 19 Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed caring for her family, being a friend to others, helping people in need and spending time with her dog, Maggie, who went everywhere with her. She was salutatorian at Mesick Consolidated Schools in 1952.
