Son of the late Henry and Caroline (Meyer) Friedrichsen, born in Moneta, IA, March 6, 1925. WWII veteran, US Navy, Pacific Theater, serving on the USS Pocomo; fought in the Battle of Tarawa.
Honorably discharged. Married to Shirley Reed, July 27, 1947. Retired district sales manager for Westway Corporation. Long-time residents of Omaha, NE. After their retirement, Lloyd and Shirley moved to her hometown of Peterson, IA. Preceding him in death was his beloved wife, Shirley, and eldest son Gregory; three half-siblings: Helen (Carstensen) Thompson, Irma (Carstensen) Ingwersen, and Kenneth Carstensen; and three sisters: Evelyn (Friedrichsen) Hildebrand, Inez (Friedrichsen) Peters, and Janice (Friedrichsen) Korczak. Survivors: Marci (Bryan) Karley of Spencer, IA; Mary Ann (Paul) Johns of Elkhorn, NE; Scott (Katherine) Friedrichsen of San Antonio, TX; daughter-in-law, Kathleen (Mello) Friedrichsen of South Easton, MA; five grandsons: Kristopher Long (Jillian); Nathan (Sarah) Johns; Jordan Johns; Michael and Jack Friedrichsen; four great-grandchildren; brother-in-law John Korczak, Costa Mesa, CA; many nieces and nephews.
