Lloyd Laverne Lambert, 85, Anderson, passed away December 10, 2010 at Millers Merry Manor-Chesterfield.

He was born June 5, 1925 in Macomb, Illinois to Charles and Lena Lambert. He was raised and worked in the coal mining district, entered the Army at age 18 and served in WWII. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he moved to Decatur, Illinois, where he met his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Spaar Lambert. While attending Anderson College, he answered a call to the ministry of those less fortunate and started Christian Center Rescue Ministries in 1955. Over the years, he received many awards from the community that he loved including Sagamore of Wabash in 2000, the Chief Anderson Award in 1986, Services Community Award for Achievement in 1994 and in 2010 he received the Keys to the City.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lambert of Anderson; daughter, Rebecca Moore and husband Daniel of Grovetown, Georgia; son, Toby N. Lambert and wife Lynette of Decatur, Illinois; son, Michael Lambert & wife Laura of Montgomery, Alabama; daughter-in-law, Darla Lambert of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and adopted son, Tim Stanley & wife Becky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lena Lambert and son, Corey Lambert.
