Lloyd ‘Lavern’ Miller, age 74, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away September 29, 2020 at the Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Health Center in Osceola.

Lloyd Lavern Miller was born September 28, 1946 at the Stromsburg Hospital to William Lloyd and Lorena Pearl (Stratton) Miller. The family moved from Osceola to Fullerton when Lavern was in the 6th grade. He graduated from Fullerton High School in 1964. He moved to Chicago for a short time and returned to attend Nebraska Technical School in Milford where he graduated in 1966 with a degree in auto body.
He married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Naomi (Maybon) Miller on April 3, 1966. They celebrated 54 years together in 2020.
Lavern worked at Haith Body Shop in Central City, Sigler Garage in Osceola, and Harold’s Market in Osceola. He went to work for Overland Sand and Gravel, Ready Mix and worked several positions there. He retired after 38 years in 2007.
In 2008 Lavern and Phyllis opened Parkview Dairy Inn, which they owned and operated for four years.
Lavern served his community by being on the Volunteer Fire Department in Osceola and Stromsburg, he was president of the Stromsburg Commercial Club, he was a member of the Stromsburg Methodist Church and served on the administrative board. Lavern was a Past Master of the Stromsburg Masonic Lodge and a member and Past Worthy Patron of Rob Morris Chapter 192 Eastern Star, and Sesostris Shrine Temple.
Lavern’s hobby and long time passion was street rods and he enjoyed the restoration process of his 1950 Ford pickup. He enjoyed his membership and friends in the Midwest Street Rod Association for many years. He also enjoyed carpentry and added a garage to their new home and built two shops where he spent countless hours working on his pickup.
Lavern is survived by his wife Phyllis Miller; four children Michelle (Steve) Teegerstrom of Stromsburg, Annette (Tom) Kaus of Wayne, Latricia (Scott) Gierhan of Utica, Grant (Amy) Miller of Stromsburg; 10 grandchildren Seth (Beth) Teegerstrom, Nolan (Amelia) Teegerstrom, Jessica Kaus, Kyle Kaus, Cale (Nicole Reetz) Gierhan, Lindsey Gierhan, Hunter Miller, Kaylen Miller, Garrett Miller, and Levi Miller; four great grandchildren, Daphney and Hadley Teegerstrom and Jax and Joey Teegerstrom; sister Murlene Mickey; brothers-in-law Roger (Betty) Maybon, and Dennis Maybon, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Lorena Miller; parents-in-law Myrle and Nellrene Maybon; brother and sister-in-law Raymond ‘Chub’ (Mildred) Miller; sister Patricia Ray; brother-in-law Don Mickey and sister-in-law Nan Smith.
