Lionel Jules was born in Desdunes, Haiti on October 10, 1953, to St. Pierre Jules and Lydia Jules.  Lionel, affectionately called “Nennen” by his children, always had dreams of a better and different life and so at a young age he decided to travel to America, though he knew no one and
did speak any English. His grandparents and Eloicine Eloi (who raised him) helped him raise money to travel to America in 1976 and he soon found himself in New Jersey. Lionel eventually moved to and settled in Cambridge, MA and would also move to Rhode Island and then to
Florida. While in Haiti, Lionel married the love of his life Ismene (Previlon) Jules, in the summer of 1976. Their union was blessed with three children: Lunie Jules, Lucine Jules and Nelson Jules. Despite being in a foreign country and not speaking the language, (which he eventually learned)
Lionel was always a hard worker and provided for his family by working many different jobs. His last job was in construction and after many years of working he decided to retire, travel and enjoy his life in his beloved country of Haiti, where he spent his final years. Lionel loved music, reading and learning.
