Linell Henry Nunley Jr was born December 18, 1950, in Denver, Colorado to Alma Jean Echols and Linell Henry Nunley Sr. He acquired his education via the Denver Public School system, ultimately graduating from Manual High School in 1969. Upon graduation Linell attended University of Colorado Boulder, studying to become an Occupational Therapist.

In his early years, Linell spent a lot of his time being reared by his Grandmother Mossie Rollins, on the 29th block of High Street and was a faithful believer of God. During this time, he met his life long friends Harold Murray, Steven Hoard, Jerome Hoard, and Ricky Mallard. Throughout the years they all became avid sports fans and players, with basketball being their greatest love. Harold was a faithful and devoted friend caring for Linell even unto death.

Linell spread his love by playing and teaching basketball to his friends. Linell was affectionately nicknamed Bubbie. Bubbie loved playing cards such as Bid Whiz, Tonk and Dominoes. He also loved spending time with his family, enjoying a good meal with his sisters. Bubbie loved listening to music as loud as possible.

Linell was a hardworking man and gained employment in many professions including the City and County of Denver as a street maintenance worker.
