Dakota – Linden L. Thomas, 74 of Dakota passed away suddenly at home following a brief battle with cancer on Sunday, February 27, 2022. He was born on November 4, 1947 in Freeport to Lowell and Leona (Toelke) Thomas. He married Virginia “Chick” Bingner on December 10, 1966 at St Paul Church of Epleyanna. They were married for 47 ½ wonderful years in which they had two beautiful children, Kerry and Shana.
Linden retired from the trucking industry in 2010 from USF Holland spending 22 years with Newell CO of Freeport. After retiring he loved to drive so he hauled grain for Bates Next Generation in Rockton, IL and for Babler Farms of Rock City. Linden was a member of the Fraternal order of the Eagles Aerie #679, the Stephenson County Farm Bureau, Pioneer Cemetery Treasurer and a member of teamster local 325.
Surviving are his two children, Kerry (Kim) Thomas of South Beloit, IL and Shana (Mike) Jones of Byron, IL. His grandchildren include Ryan (Danielle) Thomas of Lena; Justin Thomas of Freeport; Amber (Neil) Nelson of Argyle, WI; and Kiley Jones of Byron; Great Grandchildren are Mason Kempel, Logan and Laine Thomas all of Lena, IL. His brothers are Loris ‘Lori’ (Vicki) Thomas of Rock City; Les (Terry) Thomas of Sarasota, FL; sisters, Leanne Thomas of Howe, IN; Lois (Eldon) Christner of Shipshewana, IN; and Leanette (Dean) Bontreger of Carmel, IN.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
