Linda Prowe Jackson was born in Hartford, Connecticut to William and Barbara Prowe on June 28, 1947. On March 9, 2021, she entered Heaven’s gates to be with the Lord.
Linda and her family moved to Florida in June of 1957, in a black and white Studebaker, in search of warmer weather. Upon arrival, her father went into construction, building homes in Old Floresta and Dover Street (Delray Manor) in north Boca Raton. Her mother was his bookkeeper, secretary, and later worked for Danish Bakery, Armour Extermination, and was the manager of the Frame Factory.
In the fall of 1957, she started the 4th grade at Boca Elementary and later was part of the first graduating class of Boca Raton High School in 1966. She has a sister Carol, two brothers, Billy (deceased) and Mark, all who graduated from Boca High as well.
Linda has four grown children – Scott and Keith (twins), Ryan, Laura and seven grandsons ranging from 27 years old to 8 months, all boys. She was extremely proud to have all boy grandsons which included twins. How many people could say they were mothers of twins and a grandmother of twins.
She worked for the Boca Raton Public Library for 13 years, then left to be home with her only daughter. Later, she went back to work for an appeals attorney as a paralegal and her personal assistant. She then retired and loved every minute of it as it allowed her to watch her twin grandsons regularly.
Linda was a proud Boca resident. She lived in the same house and neighborhood, Boca Villas, for over 50 years prior to selling the house she loved. She was very involved in the history of the city and preserving its memory. One of the highlights was her working to save the Boca Elementary School gymnasium and even made the cover of the paper. Unfortunately, they were not able to save the gym but were able to raise a total of $17,000 that was donated to the Historical Society so the past publications of the Boca Raton News could be digitized and put online.
Anyone who knew Linda, knew she loved to keep busy. Gardening and digging in the dirt were fun for her as well as the beach which was always close by. She had an eye for decorating and making any space feel warm and loving. Wednesdays were “girls’ day out” – museums, restaurants, thrift shops, movies, etc. Her circle of friends is diverse, eclectic, fun and energetic which represented each part of her. They attended parties, threw parties, and spent hours chatting and laughing.
Linda wishes to spend eternity among the seas and next to her father. Her ashes will be spread at Palmetto Park Pavilion in Boca Raton and next to her father in Connecticut, at a later date.
Linda is survived by her four children, Scott, Keith, Ryan, and Laura and her seven grandchildren, Connor, Nick, Kyle, Ryan Jr, Christian, Declan and Dawson.
