Linda M. Palmer, 77, of Newnan, passed away on December 1, 2014 while in Piedmont Newnan Hospital due to an illness. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. She was born on May 1, 1937 in Sandersville, Georgia and grew up in Sylvania. She attended the University of Georgia, and then transferred to the Medical College of Georgia, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1959.

Her long, productive career as a Registered Nurse culminated as the Director of Continuing Education at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. While there, she was responsible for designing, setting up, and conducting many health and nursing educational programs, most notably in rural Appalachian communities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Leonard McNair and Margaret Jones McNair, her sister, Margaret “Peggy” Mock, and her husband Edward Vibbard Palmer. She is survived by her son, Michael Lamar Johnson, her sisters, Barbara Waters and Debbie James, her brother Jimmy McNair, and numerous nieces and nephews.
