Linda Mullis Jett, 83, of Alexandria, VA, passed away on May 18, 2022, in Occoquan, VA.

Linda was born May 27, 1939, in China Grove, NC. As a 1957 graduate of Bethel High School in Midland, NC, she lettered in basketball and softball and was awarded MVP in women’s basketball. Linda attended Pfeiffer College, and in 1959, enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and was stationed in San Diego, California.

During her service in San Diego, she married Ken Jett of Los Angeles, CA. They had two children, Kathy and John. Linda worked as an X-ray technician for more than thirty years in Concord, Albemarle, and Charlotte, NC.

Linda was a long-time member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Midland, where she sang in the choir, and served as a United Methodist Youth Fellowship leader. In 2002, Linda moved to Alexandria, VA.

Linda is remembered as being independent, having an adventurous spirit, and a wicked sense of humor.  She was also an avid reader, and sports-lover, whose knowledge of NCAA basketball resulted in upset March Madness pool victories by basketball-illiterate family members.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Sylvester “Bud” W. Mullis; mother, Edith Black Mullis Taylor; sister, Carol Mullis Barbee; and grandson, Charles Jett. She is survived by her two beloved children, Katherine Jett Hayes, and husband, Mark, of Alexandria, VA, and John W. Jett, III and wife, Melissa, of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren, Christian Kraus and wife, Caitlyn of Dallas, NC, Sarah Marsh and husband, Richard, of Charlotte, NC, Matthew Hayes of Washington, DC, John W. Jett, IV of Alexandria, VA, and Jackson Jett of Charlotte, NC; two great-grandchildren, Callie and Jenna Kraus of Dallas, NC; and dear friend, Carol Scales of Charlotte, NC.
