Linda Kay (Steward) Shedd, 59, of Des Moines, IA, peacefully passed away on October 4, 2021. Linda was one very strong woman that had a tough year dealing with cancer.
Linda was born August 9, 1962, in Nevada, Iowa, to William and Gloria Steward. When Linda was in second grade she moved to Des Moines and later graduated from Des Moines Technical High School. When she was 22, she gave birth to her daughter Stephannie; Linda was a great mom and gave it her all. During this time, she became very interested in dogs and began her lifetime passion of showing dogs. This love would later spread to her daughter and become something they would both enjoy. Over the years, Linda’s passion grew tremendously with not only competing in obedience trials, but also succeeding in rally, agility, and nose work. She has won many championship ribbons, trophies, and medals with several standard schnauzers and papillons through the years. Although Linda worked full time at Wells Fargo in the Mortgage Department for over 30 years, she made time during the week to share her knowledge and wisdom with others who shared her passion while training at the Des Moines Obedience Training Club. Whatever Linda set her mind to she completed and did it with honors.
Linda became a grandma in March of 2020. Although this time with her grandson was cut short due to her lung cancer diagnosis, she made the most of this time with Finnlee. When he was born, she gushed on Facebook about how proud she was of Stephannie and how much she loved being a grandma to Finnlee. She will always be a part of their lives and watching over them.
Linda is survived by her daughter Stephannie Linn Shedd, grandson Finnlee Evan Shedd, sisters Laura Rae Hildreth and husband William, Susan Lee Robinson and husband John Hegel, and Sherri Pankratz; and stepfather Jackie Lee Robinson. Linda was preceded in death by her mother Gloria Margret Robinson, father William Ray Steward, and sister Sheila Fouts.
