Linda Faye Jones Tolbert, a resident of St. Stephens, was called into eternal rest Tuesday, May 21, 2020, at her residence after a life-long battle of illnesses. Born May 10, 1960, along with her twin, to Nathan Payne and Dorothy Payne.
Linda was a graduate of Leroy High School, a member of the Class of 1979. She was a member of Good Stone AME Zion Church, where she served on the Usher Board. She also enjoyed relaxing in solitude at home.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her aunt, Matilda (James) Abston, who raised her; sisters, Patricia Diane Payne Bumpers and Frankie Payne Jackson; brothers, Nathaniel, Billy “Mike” and Christopher Payne.
Left to cherish her memories are her three children, daughter, Arsheka Jones of St. Stephens, and sons, Seneca Jones of St. Stephens and Cedrick Jones of Mobile; four grandchildren, sibling; Brenda (Terry) Jackson and Tonkea Payne, both of St. Stephens, Shelia (Craig) Cox of Coffeeville and Sharon (Rory) Robinson of Jackson; aunts, Barbara (Curtis) Davis, Marion Harmon and Wilma (Luther) Crowell, all of St. Stephens, and Frances Howell of Cleveland, Ohio; one uncle, Leroy Jones of Dalton, Ga.; husband, Elezar “Al” Tolbert; two devoted cousins, Betty Jones and Elisa Jones; with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
