Norwich- Linda Anne Bartlett, 68, died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving daughters and sister-in-law, Kathy Bartlett.
She was born in Norwich on July 25, 1944 the daughter of the late Carl Rogers and Charlotte Rogers Cornette. She is survived by two sisters Leslie Wiemer of Hawthorne, CA and Lorraine Tibben of Torrance, CA. In addition she is survived by a brother Charles Rogers of Lenior City, TN.
She was predeceased by a brother George Rogers. She was married to the late James Bartlett on November 25, 1967 in St. Patrick’s Cathdral by the Monsignor Thomas Bride. Mr. Bartlett died on September 28, 1996. Linda is survived by her three daughters; Heather Bartlett of Franklin, Kimberly Bartlett Manisene of Hamden and Cara Bartlett of Franklin, who will love and miss her always.
Linda graduated from the Norwich Free Academy and Central Connecticut State University with a B.S., M.S. and a 6th year certificate. Linda worked as a teacher and reading consultant at Fields Memorial School in Bozrah for 38 years. Following her retirement she returned to Bozrah as a special Ed. Aide for 4 years. She was the President of the Bozrah Federation of Teachers for 30 years.
Linda served in various roles in the town of Franklin, including the Democratic Town Committee, Board of Education, as well as a former Selectperson. Linda was also a member of the Norwich Cable Advisory Committee.
Linda often said teaching children to read was one of life’s most fulfilling careers.
There were special people in Linda’s life who made her the person she was. She was raised by her Aunt and Uncle who taught her kindness and love and also the value of an education. Linda’s best friend was her husband Jim. They supported each other through happy times as well as trying times. Their gravestone reads, ‘Looking back I can clearly see the perfect love was you and me’.
