Our loving mom, Grandma and “GG”, Lily Ada “May” LeBrecht, 82, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, in Boise Idaho. May was the second of three children born to Robert Henry and Violet Mary Johnson on June 14, 1938.
May was born in Kemmerer, Wyoming. Her family moved to Wendover, Utah when she was a child. She lived there with her parents, brother, George and sister, RoseMary until she met and married David Jerome LeBrecht on August 21, 1956. They were married for 45 years when he passed in 2001. During their marriage David was in the Air Force. They lived all over the world including Spain, Germany and in the US; Colorado, Michigan, California, Missouri, Utah, Louisiana and finally, Idaho. This is how May landed in Mountain Home. They came to the Air Force Base in 1971 and then moved to the town in 1976, where May lived until 2017, when she moved to Boise to be closer to her daughters.
May has always devoted her time and love to her family. She always greeted you with a smile and a hug. She had the best hugs. Her presence invoked a feeling of love and warmth. She would sit and hold your hand rubbing her thumb across the top of it. Her sweetness also came with actual sweets like M&M’s and Oreos we dipped in hot tea. You would also rarely catch her not fully put together. She always said she felt “naked” without her earrings.
She loved getting together for holidays, life events and of course, family barbeques. Which included lots of games. May loved to play Rummy and Scrabble, which she usually won most of the time. She was so fun to be around; we were always laughing about something.
She also enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was excellent at crocheting; she had made all of us beautiful afghans over the years. She was an avid bowler. She bowled in multiple leagues every week. May was happy to tell you about her 279 game; she was inducted into the Mountain Home Bowlers Hall of Fame; she was very proud of that. As a matter of fact, May looked forward to every June when she and her daughter, Debbie would fly to Las Vegas to bowl in a Senior tournament. She did this for 12 years and loved this trip, many times her other children would join to make it a big family event. This was one of her favorite trips, she loved having her children with her, we will miss all these special times with our loving mom.
There was a month or so May went to Reno to stay with her son, David. She loved the time she was there. She always referred to David as her favorite son, good thing he was her only son, us girls would say. It made her smile. She would always say to each of us girls that we were her favorite daughter and we would say “That will be our secret” and then we would laugh about it.
May is survived by her children: Debbie (Tom) Musial, Linda (Del) Swartz, David (CJ Rocha) LeBrecht, Laurie (Cris) Andrews, her sister, RoseMary Johnson, grandchildren: Amber (Brian) Smith, Kevin Musial, Ryan Andrews, Tyler Andrews; great grandchildren: Jaxson Smith and Zoeey Andrews.
Mom, you are forever in our hearts. We will miss you more than words can say.
“To the world she was our Mother, but to our Family she was the World”
