Lilly Mae Claw, of Rat Springs – Wildcat Peak, Arizona passed away Tuesday, January 05, 2010 in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Lilly was born July 10, 1938 in Red Lake, Arizona to Albert Dandy, Sr. and Cora Shorty Dandy. She is of the Biih Bítoo’nii Todichiinii (Deer Spring Bitterwater) Clan born for Tl’aashchí’í Tl’izilani (Red Cheek Manygoats) clan; her maternal grandfather was of the Tábaahí (Water’s Edge Clan) and her paternal grandfather is Dzaanééz lání (Many Mules (Burros)) Clan.

Lilly was a lifelong advocato for education and leadership amongst her Navajo people. She was a Retired Food Service Cook of the Civil Service where she served 35 years throughout the Kaibeto Boarding School and Red Lake Day School.

Lilly is survived by her children, Rosita Claw, Lucille Claw, Leta Begay, Gordon Claw, Jr., and McKinley Claw. Her sisters are Zonnie Richards, Marie Begay, Alvina Slim, Rosie Dandy, and Ruby Whitethorne. Her brothers are Jim Dandy, Sr., Charlie Dandy, and Albert Dandy, Jr. Her grandchildren are Anthony Harrison, Shayne Claw, Jordon Begay, Shaquille Begay, Shania Begay, Cordelle Claw, Charmayne Claw, Chelsea Claw, Tameya Claw, Kayla Star, Makayla Claw, Bunny Claw and many of the children she called her grandchildren.

Lilly is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Gordon Claw, Sr., father Albert Dandy, Sr., and mother Cora Shorty Dandy.
