Elegance comes from having grace, class, effervescent charm, a demure diamond, that always stands out and shines. Lillie Mae was born on January 18, 1936, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Hershell and Georgia Andrews. Her father was in the military which gave Lillie and her brother Willie Lee an opportunity to travel and experience places and people of different cultures and backgrounds. Lillie’s parents moved to Denver, Colorado, where she was educated at St. Ignatius Loyola, Sacred Heart, Annunciation Catholic Schools, and Manual High School. While at Manual, Lillie met her future husband, Booker T. Griffin. She was with her friends when a tall dark and handsome young man approached her, their eyes met, love at first sight. He couldn’t resist her beautiful green eyes. Booker made sure his car was clean when school was out, so he could empress her and give her a ride home. Booker and Lillie were married and to this union came four children Carolyn, Sharon, Ronald, and last but not least Jewell a unexpected bundle of love and joy. Brooker and Lillie were in disbelief that the family was increasing. Jewell was named after Booker’s sister. She was a blessing. Unfortunately, the marriage ended in divorce. Lillie worked various jobs during her lifetime. She worked as a Unit Physicians Secretary at Presbyterian St. Luke’s for over 20 years. She was a kind, compassionate woman who was intelligent with a warm sense of humor. A gifted seamstress, Lillie loved beautiful clothes and could make anything. She was a woman of class, grace, charm, and integrity. She was a great cook and loved to spend time with her family.
