Lillian Pearl Newman Eldridge, 89, of Flemingsburg, KY went to be with the Lord on Tuesday May 9, 2017 following the death of her beloved husband of nearly 70 years who went ahead of her on Wednesday April 26, 2017.

Lillian was born July 3, 1927 at Ringos Mills in Fleming County, KY to the late Irwin Smith and Maud McGregor Newman. She and Delmar, the love of her life, were married on December 8, 1947.

Lillian is survived bythe following family members: herdaughter Karen and Gene Doyle of Lexington along with their family of Mike, Sherry and Amanda; Lucas, Tera, Macy and Marielle; Emily, Alexa, Miles and Nellyse, and Caroline, Lloyd, Baine and Claire; her son David and Brenda Eldridge of Flemingsburg along with their family of Cathy, Chip,Frederick, Anna and Elizabeth; Caren, Britt, Ella and Audrey; Christa, Steve, Anna, Alexandria and Asher; her daughter Donna and Terry Royse of Hillsboro along with their familyof Tera, Patrick, Lilly, Bennett and Fletcher; Darren, Jill, Brac, Gunner and Jonah; Casey, Laton, Will and Kyle;her son, Tim and Claudette Eldridge of Morehead along with their family of Adam, Tarah, Riley, Reese and Reagan; Aaron, Mikki, Asher and Smith; as well as unborn children and grandchildren that she’ll see for the first time in heaven.Lillian is survived bythe children of her only sibling, the lateLaton Mitchell (Irene) Newman; Sue, Terry, Jerry, Kathy,Michael, Mary, Dora, Patricia and Christine, two brother-in-laws,Vencil Eldridge and Paul Tranbarger, both of Flemingsburg and two sister-in-laws Stella Eldridge of Westchester, OH and Dorothy Blake of Indianapolis, IN; as well as other nieces, nephews and a host of friends and family that will miss her dearly. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents and her only sibling Mitchell (Irene) Newman and their child Phillip; two sisters in law, Dessie (Luther Kegley and Allen) Cate and Sadie Tranbarger; and three brother-in-laws, Roy (Lena) Eldridge, Troy Eldridge and Clarence (Helen) Eldridge.

Lillian was known as Granny to all. She was a dedicated kind-hearted Christian wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She had a gentle and loving spirit that allowed her to serve God, her family, her church and her neighbors in a quiet way that only could be transcended by the love of Jesus.

Lillian went to school at Hillsboro Elementary and later graduated from Fleming County High School. She met Delmar as a young girl and they married shortly after his return from the Navy. Lillian began her career working at the Peoples Bank. She later worked as the bookkeeper and office manager at their family business until she retired. Lillian enjoyed spending time quilting, cooking, reading and working puzzles as well as entertaining the grandchildren.

Even though in her later years she struggled with remembering all of the details of her surroundings and at times even knowing her closest family members, she continued to greet everyone with a smile and a hug.

Lillian was a member of the Mt Pisgah Christian Church where she also served as the secretary treasurer. She shared Delmar’s love of music and they regularly attended Southern Gospel singing events in various parts of the country including winter and spring camp meetings in Seffner Florida and Pigeon Forge TN.
