Lillian Norwood Russell, a native of the Cortelyou community and resident of Jackson, answered the Master’s call on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on May 11, 1960 to Bessie Mae Grayson Norwood and Kirk Norwood Sr. Lillian was educated at Leroy High School and she was a member of Walker Springs Road Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member until her health began to fail. She was employed as a certified nursing assistant at Jackson Health Care prior to working as a private duty sitter, where she was loved by all whom she worked with.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Bessie Mae Grayson Norwood and Kirk Norwood Sr.; her brother, the Rev. Jessie Norwood; sister, Patricia Norwood; and a stepdaughter, April Denise Pugh.
She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted husband, Kenneth Russell Sr. of Jackson; two daughters, devoted caregiver Cierra Russell (Adrain) of Jackson and devoted Tiesha (Jose) Cosby of Kathleen, Ga.; three sons, Jerome Norwood of McIntosh, Sylvester Norwood and Kenneth Russell Jr., both of Jackson; seven grandchildren, one devoted, Kezia Russell, Destiny Williams, Alexis Williams, Quindarius Williams, Dashaun Norwood, Markell Biddles and Jasmine Chapman; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Muriel (Robert) Waters and Carolyn (Willie) Jenkins, both of Jackson, and Burnette (Byron) Tolbert of Auburn; two brothers, Kirk (Brenda) Norwood of St. Stephens and Larry “Champ” Norwood of Wagarville; one aunt, Ludie Johnson of Newark, N.J.; three sisters- in – laws, devoted Alma (Eddie) Chapman , Ora Mae Russell both of Grove Hill , and Pearline Norwood of Jackson ; three brother -in – laws, Joe (La Toka) Russell and Carl Russell both of Grove Hill and James (Cynthia Ann) Russell of Winn; a devoted cousin, Gilbert Grayson; devoted friend, Felicia Jones; with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends
