Lillian Helen Moore was born on April 10, 1918 in Omaha, Nebraska to William Mays and Edna Phillips Mays. The family moved to San Diego, California when Lillian was very young. She received her education through the San Diego Unified School District and graduated from Hoover High School. Lillian who always had a thirst for knowledge was an avid reader throughout her life. In 1938, Lillian united in marriage with the love of her life, Paul Moore, Jr. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children who loved her dearly, Joyce and Paul III. Her daughter and her beloved husband of sixty-three years preceded her in death.
Lillian, who was very mechanically inclined and detailed oriented, enjoyed working at Convair Aircraft Manufacturing for over ten years. There, she worked as an electrician, which also included executing complicated blueprints on planes used during the war.
Lillian had numerous and extraordinary talents, including baking and cooking with great passion the most delicious and spectacular foods. Her gift became a reality as she became a Personal Chef for many clients and later opened a catering business.
Lillian was always interested in politics and had a strong opinion until the very end. She had a wonderful, frank sense of humor. Along with her passion for reading, she enjoyed watching the San Diego Padres, cooking shows, game shows and even soap operas. Lillian, simply put, was an incredible woman! She enjoyed the friendship and love of her family and the treasured friends she “touched” along the way. Her son Paul, lovingly and faithfully took care of his Mom who was his biggest advocate and best friend until her passing. Paul gave Lillian two treasured grandchildren, Paul “Boston” and Paulette. Her grandchildren were her joy and they spent many years under her loving care. She was beyond a Grandma in her love and dedication to them.
On Tuesday, June 4, 2013 Lillian Helen Moore, at the age of ninety-five, passed away peacefully in her sleep to be with Our Lord and Savior. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Paul Moore III; her grandchildren, Paul “Boston” Moore and Paulette Johnson; her sister, Cynthia Seals and her brother, Quintin Mays.
