Lillian (Lilly) Marie Balensiefen, 9, was granted her angel wings on Thursday, April 28th, following a lifelong illness. Lilly was born on September 22, 2001 in Magnitogorsk, Russia. She was 20 months old when she was adopted and moved to the Texas Hill Country to live with her new family. Lilly”s 9 years on this earth were short, but the quality of her life far exceeded the quantity of time that she lived. Her sweet smile could melt the hearts of those around her. Although Lilly”s illness made her appear frail, she possessed strength, perseverance, and the ability to love wholeheartedly. Her determination to live life to the fullest taught us that each day is a blessing. She loved reading stories, listening and dancing to music, and watching her brothers play. Her brothers brought her great joy, often making her laugh so hard she cackled like a hen. Lilly loved the color pink and anything to do with princesses. Although we will miss her everyday, she will remain forever in our hearts. Her presence in our life is a gift we will always be thankful for. Lilly leaves behind many wonderful caregivers that loved her, supported her, and enhanced the quality of her life. Lilly”s love and our gratitude extends to her teachers at Comfort Elementary, her home health nurses, and the staff at A+ Pediatrics, Pyramed Home Health, Hope Hospice, and Christus Santa Rosa Children”s Hospital. Lilly is survived by her parents, Dale and Lori Balensiefen; Brothers Reagan, Jack, Luke, and Samuel Balensiefen; Paternal grandparents Albert and Jody Balensiefen; Maternal grandparents Cecil and Linda Cantrell; Uncles and aunts Michael and Liz Cantrell, Wes and Corinna Speer, Dean and Leah Balensiefen, and Cristina Miller; as well as several great aunts and uncles and many loved cousins.
