Lillian Marie (Guy, Bowman) McCartney, 89, South Bend Indiana (formerly of Zanesville, Indiana) passed away October 9, 2016. She was born on May 1, 1927 in Zanesville, Indiana to Harold R. Guy and Elsie “Chloe” (Fisher, Guy) Carpenter. She married Jewel “Joe” Bowman in 1947 and married Eugene (Gene) McCartney in 1985. Lillian was a talented seamstress and artist. She used her sewing abilities to create the interiors of boats and canvas shell holders for the military. She enjoyed camping, fishing, square dancing and Cubs baseball. She is preceded in death by her father, Harold Guy, 1958; mother, Chloe Carpenter, 1994; first husband, Joe Bowman 1971; son, Richard (Dick) Bowman 2013, and second husband, Gene McCartney 1985.She is survived by three children: sons Michael Bowman of Arizona, and Rod Miller of Zanesville, IN; and daughter, Linda (Bowman) Mauller of South Bend, IN; stepson Kevin McCartney (Darlene) of Fort Wayne, IN and sister Evelyn (Guy) Hoover of Muncie, IN. There are five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
