Lillian Marie Estes, a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Kindred Aspen Park Healthcare in Moscow. She was 90. Lillian was born March 23, 1926 at Moscow to Oscar and Isabel M. Allen Severson. She grew up and attended school in Potlatch. She and Don Swatman were married in Moscow in 1944. They made their home near Potlatch where Don worked farming and Lillian was a homemaker, raising her family. Lillian cooked for logging and harvest crews. She and Don divorced in 1954. Lillian worked at the Palouse Post Office and later for Old National Bank in Palouse retiring from there in April 1988. While working at the Bank, she was very proud that she had won a trip to Disney World for selling the most Savings Bonds. She and Curtis Estes were married in July of 1968 at Coeur d’Alene. They lived in Princeton and Potlatch where Lillian maintained a large garden, canning most of it. She also enjoyed her horses, her dogs, the outdoors and taking walks. Mr. Estes died in October of 1992. She is survived by her son, Jerry (Patty) Swatman of Potlatch, and daughters, Judy (Harold) Morris of Coeur d’Alene and Barb (Ken) Comstock in Potlatch. She also leaves 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and a sister, Dorothy Postlewait in Viola, ID. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Severson and an infant daughter, Janet Rae.
