Lillian “Lil” Griffioen passed away to join her Lord and savior on April 23, 2022. She was born on Easter day, April 4, 1926, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late James and Josephine (Weiland) Annen.

Lil graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1944. She was employed at Remington Rand until she was united in marriage on June 8, 1945, to the love of her life, Christiaan Griffioen, who preceded her in death on April 7, 1978.

In 1976, Lil went back to work as a certified nursing assistant at Provincial House, later called Tendercare, until 1999. It was there she administered love and care to each resident.

After retirement, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s events – sports, band, or whatever it might be. She loved watching the hot air balloons launch, gardening, butterflies, shrimp, and tacos

Lil was a faithful servant of God and displayed that in her everyday life. She touched the lives of so many and to know her was to love her. She was a long-time faithful member of Oshtemo United Methodist where she was loved and appreciated.

Lillian is survived by her children, Gary A. Griffioen and Karen (Ken) Valacak; grandchildren Brenda (Neal) McCrum, Christopher (Brittany) Stinson, Michelle (Jamie) Wilson, Amy Ludema, Scott, Bradley and Ali Griffioen; great-grandchildren Alex and Lilly Wilson, Evan and Isaac Ludema, Avery and Kellen McCrum, and Olivia Stinson; several nieces and nephews; and her dear friends, Steve and Diane Field, Jan Moses, Beth Gibson and Edna Peak.
