Lillian Clara Viera DaLuz, 82, of Victory Gardens, 309 Dixwell Ave., New Haven departed this life Aug. 30, 2010 in St. Raphael’s Hospital. Mrs. DaLuz was born in New Bedford, MA. Sept. 3, 1927, daughter of the late Maquelina Nobera Viera and Louis Manuel Viera. She graduated from Wilber Cross High School and enjoyed many activities while a member of the Dixwell Senior Citizens Organization and St. Martin dePorres Ladies Guild. She volunteered in many programs at St. Martin including the Soup Kitchen, Breakfast, Christmas Sharing, Thanksgiving Baskets, etc. In Sept. 2001, she received the Golden Citizen Recognition Award from Theta Epsilon Omega Chapter (AKA Sorority) and on March 9, 2008, she received the St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation from the Archdiocese of Hartford. Mrs. DaLuz is survived by two sons, Anthony (Ruth) DaLuz Jr. of New Haven and New Haven Firefighter Tyrone (Toni) DaLuz of Hamden; six daughters, Yvonne (Edward) Henderson, Carolyn & Denise DaLuz and April (Brian) Hagans, all of New Haven, Diane (Raymond) Nelson and Tanya DaLuz, both of Hamden; one brother, Louis Manuel Viera Jr. of New Haven; her former husband, Anthony DaLuz Sr. of Higganum; 20 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a sister, Julia Viera.
