Lillian Castleberry Archer passed away January 1, 2021 at her home in Franklin, NC. with her husband Allie and daughter Deborah.
She was predeceased by her father, Benjamin K Castleberry; mother, Dessie Floyd Castleberry; sister, Mildred C Shirley; brother-in-law, Edwin Shirley; daughter, Rita Archer Tharp; and sister-in-law, Melba Vernon Castleberry.
She was born October 13, 1929 in Cumming, GA.
She was a 1946 graduate from Chestatee High School in Gainesville, GA and Business school in Atlanta, GA. She worked at Southern Springbed in Atlanta where she met her husband, Allie Archer. In 1958, she and her family moved to Savannah where she was an active member of Ardsley Park Baptist Church. She loved and enjoyed her church missions, activities and many close friends.
After working at Derst Baking Company for several years, she left to join her husband, Allie, in their business Atlas Fabric Gallery until she retired.
She battled multiple myeloma in the early ‘80’s vowing she would paint if God let her survive. Although left with permanent health issues, she soldiered on with her painting and was an active member of the Savannah Artist Guild until moving to their Franklin, NC mountain home in 2008. She was a member of Cowee Baptist Church in Franklin.
Lillian is survived by her husband of 62 years, Allie Archer; daughter, Deborah A Scott; grandchildren, Cullen Lowery, Shannon Tharpe and Adam Tharpe; great granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Allyson, Arianna and Abigal; brothers and sister-in-law, Marcus Castleberry, Alpharetta, GA and Everett and Betty Castleberry, Alpharetta, GA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
