Lillian Novak, 89, formerly of LaSalle, died on Tuesday, November 27, at Pleasant View Luther Home in Ottawa where she had resided the past ten years. Mrs. Novak was born on October 16, 1918 in Fredonia, Kansas, of William and Mary (Sassenberg) Callahan. Mrs. Novak was employed at the Illinois State Employment Agency for 25 years, until her retirement.
She married John Novak on January 5, 1940 in Ottawa. He died on June 21, 2007. Mrs. Novak was a member of St. Rochs Church and Resurrection Church in LaSalle, until they were closed. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy (John) Kulavic, of Norcross, Ga., two sons, Jeffrey (Royce) Novak of Darien, and Dr. Gary (Mary Jo) Novak of Glenview, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, John, three brothers; Daniel, Peter, and William Callahan, and three sisters; Catherine Fennessey, Margaret Oliver, and Mary Mueller.
