Williamsport, MD – Lilli Hannelore (Passarge) Stenger, 87, of Williamsport passed away on Wednesday March 29, 2023, at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, MD.

 

Born January 17, 1936 in Heinrichsdorf, East Prussia, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Franz Leopold and Gertrud Erna (Schmuck) Passarge.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin Eugene Stenger who passed away in 2020.

 

In 1952, Lilli emigrated from East Prussia, Germany, settling in Mercersburg, PA. She graduated from James Buchanan High School as well as the Washington County School of Nursing. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Washington County Hospital until her retirement in 1986. Lilli was a member of the Washington County Nurses Association and enjoyed reading and walking. Her world centered around her family. She deeply loved her husband, daughters, granddaughters, and great granddaughters. She was affectionately known as Oma. Her family will forever be grateful for her love, help, and guidance.

 

She is survived by her daughters Linda Stenger Moore and her husband Craig of Hagerstown, MD; Carol Stenger Mellott and her husband J.R. of Williamsport, MD; Ruthy Stenger Japzon of Hagerstown, MD; sisters Regina M. Taylor, Gundel D. Huffman, Hanna E. Secrist, and Melitta G. Hoch; granddaughters Whitney Mellott Hoch (D.J.), Leah Mellott Davoli (Matt), Sarah Hensley (Robby), and Lauren Hensley; great granddaughters Lilli Hoch, Emma Hoch, Hannah Hoch, and Jackie Taylor; sister-in-law Helga Passarge; 13 nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers Werner G. Passarge and Frank D. Passarge and a son-in-law Dr. Francisco “Kit” Japzon.
