Richard E. Childs, Jr. (Dick) died after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on October 2, 2018.
Born on April 29, 1943 in Steelton, Pennsylvania to Richard and Elizabeth, he is survived by his wife, Evelyn; children, Geoffrey (Denise), Valerie (Mark), stepdaughter Nicole, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Dick was a devoted son and dedicated family man.
He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant after graduating from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Serving in the Army for 20 years in the 173rd Airborne he retired at the grade of Lt. Colonel.
