Leylahnd Aleczandar Wesley Owens, 22, of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday May 23, 2012 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was born December 22, 1989 in Terre Haute to Wesley Owens and Malissa Bierlein Owens.
Leylahnd was a graduate of Terre Haute North Vigo High School.
Leylahnd worked at Kroger as a pharmacy tech. Many times he would stop what he was doing and spend time talking to the customers that came into the pharmacy. Leylahnd had many dreams for the future. He planned to go back to college in the fall to pursue a career in the medical field. Leylahnd loved riding his motorcycle and playing basketball. He enjoyed umpiring baseball games at several fields around town. Leylahnd was very family oriented and was often heard saying, “Family First”. He kept a close circle of friends and was always seen with a smile on his face. He was a very giving young man, always putting others before himself. He love to joke around and had a great sense of humor. Leylahnd was well loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lester Ross; great grandparents, James and Yolanda McDuffie, Barbara and Wallace Webb and James Ross.
Leylahnd is survived by his parents; brothers, Wesley Owens, Jr. and Devlin Owens; sisters, Erica Owens, Maleyke Owens and Denise Owens. He is also survived by his long time girlfriend, Madison Steward; his maternal grandparents, Patricia A. McDuffie, Alan Bierlein, and David and Cindy Baecker. Paternal grandparents Joyce Owens, Joan Barnes-Ross and William and Kay Owens. He is also survived by a host of friends, aunts, uncles and cousins.
