LEWIS T. “TOMMY” BEAN, 88 Lakeland-Tommy Bean, 88, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 11, 2013, as a result of natural causes. Mr. Bean was born June 18, 1925 in Lafayette, GA to Tom and Clara Bean. He attended school in Lafayette and graduated from LHS. His passion for golf was evident in high school. As an amateur, he was runner-up in the 1955 U.S. Public Links Championship. Later that year, his long career in professional golf started as head pro at Jekyll Island, GA, where he served from 1955-1968. Mr. Bean is credited with developing the world renowned, modern golf operations there. In June 1969, the Bean family came to Lakeland where Mr. Bean became a partner and pro at the Reservation Golf Course. Tommy Bean was a member of the PGA of America for 55 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Bean was preceded in death by his beloved wife, of 65 years, Marjorie Bean. He is survived by his son, Andy and his wife, Debbie; daughters, Tina Brown and her husband, Walter; and Frances Wynne; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. Mr.
