Lewis Quincy Chestnut, Jr. of Newnan died at his residence on March 28, 2011. A native of Columbus, Georgia, he was born November 14, 1927, to the late Lewis Quincy Chestnut, Sr., and Myrtice Hearn Chestnut.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Jennie Lou Story Chestnut; a daughter, Linda Diane Chandler Luttrell; and great-granddaughters, Bethany Cheyenne Luttrell and Elizabeth Faith Hooper. Mr. Chestnut worked most of his life in the retail furniture business. He was associated with The W. L. Little & Sons business in Austell, Mather Furniture in Austell, Carrollton, Newnan and Valdosta. In Newnan, he operated C&C Manufacturing Outlet with his son, Tommy. He had enjoyed being involved in volunteer work with different organizations including the Jaycees, Volunteer Fire Department, Director of Civil Defense and was president of The Lions’ Lighthouse for the Blind. He was affiliated with The Loyal Order of the Moose where he was governor of the lodge in Carrollton and served as president of The Georgia Moose Association.
He is survived by his children; daughter, Marie Cleveland and Oscar George; sons and spouses, William Chestnut and Gail, Harold Chestnut and Janice and son Tommy Chestnut. There are 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Harold (Joanne) Chestnut, Lamar (Francis) Chestnut, Paul (Olitia) Chestnut. His surviving sisters include Daphne (George) Faulkner, Rosemary (Jim) Ely, and Martha (Carl) Hand. There is an extended family of nieces and nephews.
