Lewis H. Cherry died in Cocoa Beach on December 31st, 2017 at the age of 56.  Born in Alamogordo, NM, Lewis was the youngest son of COL (R) Richard E. Cherry Jr and Carolyn L. Cherry.  Lewis grew up as an Air Force dependent in many places including Holloman AFB, NM; MacDill AFB, FL; Gaithersburg, MD; Stuttgart, GE; Patrick AFB, FL; and Vandenberg AFB, CA.  He was an awesome athlete growing up and was skilled at most every activity he took up.  He was particularly good at shooting pool and playing golf. As a young man, he was involved in a tragic motorcycle accident in 1980 that left him disabled and battling pain for the remainder of his life; eventually losing his left leg.  Lewis spent most of the rest of his life in Florida, in the Orlando and Cocoa Beach areas.

Lewis battled addictions for most of his life, and in the early 90’s he volunteered to go to a rehab facility called Dunklin in Okeechobee, FL.   He successfully completed the program and during the time there he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.  In that period of his life he was on fire for the Lord.

Lewis found his career niche with production of Computer Aid Design (CAD) drawings of high end kitchen cabinetry for several companies in Orlando.  They are really good!  He was proud that his products were used to build the kitchen cabinets in some exclusive homes of several pro golfers including Tiger Woods and Graeme McDowell.

In his last years and after his Dad’s death in 2015, Lewis became the perfect companion for his Mom Carolyn.  They loved and cared for each other at a time when both needed it.  Lewis was there for his Mom in her time of need – he finished strong!  Although we are sad he is no longer with us, we rejoice that he is in Heaven today with our Lord, and his father and brother.

Lewis was preceded in death by his father Richard E. Cherry Jr and his brother Richard E Cherry III.  He is survived by his mother Carolyn, brother Tim, sister-in-law Heidi, sister-in-law Teresa, and nieces and nephews Elizabeth, Rick, Ryan, and Kristen.
