Lewis “Lew” Franklin McElroy
May 7, 1926 – April 8, 2011
Lew was born in San Francisco to Anna Yokumsen and Albert McElroy. He has an older sister named June. The family moved to Alameda, CA and welcomed brother Bob on 1927. The family moved to Oakland, where Lew graduated from Fremont High in 1944.
Lew enjoyed all sports and outdoor activities. After high school, Lew joined the U.S. Navy. He spent 2 years on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific during WWII.
In 1947 he married Lucille Schotte and two children Julie Ann and Nancy Lynn.
In 1950 he received his BS in Business Admin from Armstrong College. Lew worked for Pacific Telephone for 36 years retiring as a District Manager.
Lew lived and enjoyed a full life. He will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind: His wife Jean, children Julie (Cal), Nancy (Bernie), Janice and Steven (Lisa). Grandchildren Jason (Tisha), Candace (Scott), Kimberly (Phil), Michelle (nate), Matthew (Erin), Lauren (Jason), Erik, Stephanie, Justin, Kyle, Lewis and Mallory. Great-grandchildren Rachelle, Aiden, Kyle, Isaac, Kamora and Jesse.
He also leaves behind Brother Bob, sister0in-lwa Patricia, and an extensive family.
