Levorta Marie Pettway, affectionately known as “Lisa” by her family and friends, was born June 24, 1960 in Camden, Arkansas to Samuel Salley and Verdie Mae Hunter-Salley. Lisa was a mere child when her father passed away.
Lisa was blessed with two beautiful children, daughter, Knetha and son, D’undre. They were her pride and joy.
Lisa later met her soul mate, Thomas Pettway. They were united in marriage on March 3, 1996. Together, they enjoyed fishing, going to ball games, boat rides and traveling. They were inseparable.
During the early 2000’s, Lisa began working for Alvarado Medical Group as a Medical Receptionist, making many long lasting friendships along the way.
Lisa was a very loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. If she could do something for someone, she would. She enjoyed sports, particularly football. Her favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. She especially enjoyed fishing.
On Thursday, July 24, 2014, Levorta Marie Pettway slipped away peacefully while surrounded by family and loved ones. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory her loving husband of twenty years, Thomas Pettway; daughter, Knetha McDuffie; son, D’undre Byrd; children by marriage, Heather Pettway, Heath Pettway, Brian Pettway (Sarah) and Tiffani LaCasse (Andrew); mother, Verdie Mae Johnson brother, Jessie B. Hunter; twelve grandchildren including, a grandchild due in December and a host of great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends who will mourn her passing, yet celebrate her life.
