Letty Luzier Penland an original Arthurdale Homestead resident passed away in Torrance, California on Sunday, November 28, 2010. Letty was born in Parsons, West Virginia on February 20, 1925 a daughter of the late Bernie Britton and Rosella (Simmons) Luzier. Letty attended elementary school and High School in Arthurdale, West Virginia before attending West Virginia University in Morgantown. While Letty spent most of her adult life in Southern California her true love was her home state of West Virginia and she told all who would listen about the beauty of the state and the wonderful people who reside there. In West Virginia Letty is survived by two brothers Glenn Luzier and his wife Dot of Arthurdale and James Luzier and his wife Iretta of Masontown and sister-in-law Matilda Marie “Til” (Favro) Luzier of Masontown. In addition she is survived by many nieces and nephews of whom she was very proud. In California Letty is survived by her three daughters, Candace Pellegrine and her husband Bob, Jennifer Hutchins, and Shanan Penland. She will be greatly missed by her nine grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Stephanie Pellegrine and her husband Drew, Jim Pellegrine, Erin Blackwell, Lyra Waugh and her husband Jeff, Burleigh Hutchins and his wife Jill, Heather Schultz, Ali Penland, Ross Penland and Mita McCullum and her husband Sonny. Letty was also the loving great grandmother of Lassen Waugh, Shyla Waugh, and Rose McCullum. She was preceded in death by one brother Jackie Luzier and one sister and spouse June Shultz and Charles.
