Lester Lee Howton, Jr., 68, of San Mateo, passed from this life on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at UF Health Shands in Gainesville following a brief illness.
He was born in Barnwell, South Carolina, and had been a lifelong resident of Putnam County. Lester was a 1971 graduate of Palatka Central High School and served 4 years in the United States Navy. He was a master automotive technician and had worked at K-Mart, Goodyear, Firestone (B&M) and for Beck Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge for 16 years. Lester was a long-time member of the Roy Road Hunting Club and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester L. Howton, Sr., and Katie Brantley Howton.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jeanne Howton of San Mateo, daughter, Katie Zetrouer of San Mateo, several half-siblings, a sister, Marilyn Mann of Canton, NC, granddaughter, Annabelle Zetrouer as well as several nieces and nephews.
