Lester F. Klute, 85, of Three Oaks, Michigan died Monday night, August 4, 2014 at Franciscan St. Anthony Hospice in Michigan City, Indiana.Les was born December 12, 1928 in Three Oaks to Albert and Emma (Kluth) Klute. He graduated from Three Oaks High School in 1946 and served his country in the U.S. Army. On May 29, 1952 he married Jean Brown in Indianapolis.
They made their home in Three Oaks. Les was a carpenter, working for Big C. Lumber Company on home construction projects. Les was a life member of the Randall Couchman American Legion Post 204 in Three Oaks and was a member of the Eastern Star in Three Oaks. He was an avid reader and sportsman who loved fishing, hunting and made his own ammo. He and Jean would often go to dances where they enjoyed polkas. Jean died on June 9, 1997.
Survivors include his daughters, Cathy Anderson of South Bend, Indiana and Sandy Brown of New Smryna Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Kari (Glen) Gonder of Constantine, Michigan, and John (Melinda) Shreve of South Bend, Indiana; many great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and his good friend, Lois Backus of Three Oaks. In addition to Jean, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Beth Ann.
