Leslie Sumpter, 74, passed away July 16, 2012 with his family by his side. He was born to Earl and Nina Sumpter on March 21, 1938 in Florence, Colorado. Leslie joined the U.S. Navy in 1955. On May 11, 1957, Leslie was united in marriage to Mary Lou Garrett in Canon City. After retiring from the U.S. Navy in 1974, Leslie worked for Ready Ice and R.E. Monks Construction. Mr. Sumpter is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Leslie (Trina) Sumpter Jr., Cindy (Ralph) Mills, Kenneth Sumpter, Virgil (Crystal) Sumpter, and Tammy (Bryan) Asher; fifteen grandchildren, Ralph Mills Jr., David Mills, Tiffany Vig, Michelle Emond, Kenneth Sumpter, Mathew Sumpter, Tandi Lyons, Allen Sumpter, James Vig, Tyler Sumpter, Melissa Mills, Kirsten Asher, Brandon Asher, Braxton Sumpter, and Kaitlyne Sumpter; ten great grandchildren, Ryleana Mills, Ellie Lyons, Gage Mills, Miricle Mills, Tristan Vig, Jordyn Sumpter, Kenneth Sumpter, Maddison Mills, and Audrina Vig; brother, Lee Heath; step brothers, Gene and Melvin Heath; and brothers-in-law, Lee Garrett, Virgil Garrett, and Jim Garrett.
