February 25, 1930 – February 4, 2015

Leslie Lowell Post, 84 of Spring Branch, Texas, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 4, 2015. Leslie was born February 25, 1930 in Newfoundland, New Jersey, the son of Charles Earle Post and Lillian Buchanan. As a young man, Leslie served his country in the Army. He was stationed in Germany and received the Army of Occupation Medal for his service. After being honorably discharged in 1951, Leslie returned home to Newfoundland where he worked as a stonemason and later a mail carrier. In 1974, Leslie moved his family to Vermont. For the next 23 years he lived in Peacham, running a small farm and raising a family. Leslie was active in the community and, over the years, served as selectman, an elder of the Church and volunteered with the historical society. Les was famous for his pies and baked goods which were always first to sell at the Farmer’s Market. In 1997 he moved to Arizona to live with his daughter, and in 2007 they moved to Texas. Leslie’s life work was Genealogy and he had traced his family back to the early 1600’s, even identifying the ship that had brought them to America. Beyond the Post ancestry, Leslie had researched more than 100 families. He was always willing to help others in their genealogical research, and generally knew more about other’s families than they did themselves. His last years were spent researching the history of Newfoundland, New Jersey. Leslie is predeceased by his parents, Charles Earle Post and Lillian Buchanan, by his two brothers, Arnold Post and Wayne “Hap” Post, and his sister, Lillian Shoemaker. He is survived by his sisters, Barbara Guenter, Doris “DJ” Van Pelt, and Sylvia Doiron; his former wife, Lois Post; his devoted daughter, Wendy English, her husband, Michael English; his son Pieter Abraham Post, his wife, Monica Post; his beloved granddaughter, Sophia Lillian Post, and numerous nieces and nephews.
