Leslie “Hat” Frederick 90, of Gladesville passed away Saturday August 27, 2011 at Windy Hill Manor with family by his side. He was born December 2, 1920 in Gladesville a son of the late Leslie A. and Bessie (Brown) Frederick. He was a World War II veteran serving in the European theatre with the 80th Division of the 317th Infantry. He was awarded four Bronze Battle Stars (Normandy, Central Europe, Rhineland, and Ardennes), Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star and Victory Medal from France. He was a life member of VFW Post 548. He retired from electrician’s local 425 in Fairmont. He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Leslie is survived by his daughter Carla Mae Plum and husband Ronald; his grandson Joshua Michael Plum; one brother Ivan “Red” Frederick of Mt. Lake Park, MD; and one sister Clarice Ervin of Grafton.
