EATON, Leslie C., Sr. died Sunday afternoon, November 13, 2011, following a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born October 7, 1918, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Charles and Charlotte Bronson Eaton.
Mr. Eaton joined the United States Navy in 1935, serving first in China. Then, during World War II, he served combat tours in the North Atlantic and South and West Pacific. Leslie also served in Korea. He subsequently retired in 1965 as a Chief Petty Officer after 30 years of combined active and fleet reserve service. Following his military retirement, Mr. Eaton obtained his B.B.A. and M.B.A. degrees from Western Michigan University and ultimately retired from Ferris State University as Director of Purchasing. Preceding him in death were his wife of 59 years, Betty Marquis Eaton, and his only daughter, Barbara Eaton Klein.
Surviving are his two sons, Leslie Jr. Sharon Willie Eaton of Schoolcraft and Jeff Mary Kinnunen Eaton of Rhinelander, WI; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
